Iconography

Introduction

In our laboratory icons are produced following the tradition which has been handed down from the Apostles to the Fathers and Councils of the Church. This tradition expresses the Gospel, the joyful message of salvation for all people announced by Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God.

The holy icons, using beautiful forms and colours, help us to keep alive in our hearts - and to meditate with our eyes - the presence of the Lord which has already been made known to us through the Word of God.

Each icon is painted following the guidelines provided by ancient tradition. Egg tempera is painted on to a solid wooden table, using only natural pigments (of a vegetable, animal or mineral origin). These are all purified and ground in our own iconographic laboratory. Works are produced on a commission basis.
