The heart of the Monastic Family Fraternity of Jesus, as every Christian community, is rooted in the Word of God. To remain alive, the community constantly needs the Word of God to be proclaimed, explained, meditated upon and practically transformed into a living project. In this way the daily life of each individual, and the community as a whole, is inspired by the Word of the Lord.
Jesus, himself, provides us with the main reason to go out and announce the Gospel: “Jesus went in to Galilee proclaiming the Good News of God” (Mc 1, 14b). The Word becomes the Good News announced, above all, through a way of life. As expressed by the prophet Ezekiel (Ez. 3, 1) we need to “eat” the Word of God each day to have the spiritual nourishment that we need for our journey of faith. This is expressed, within the life of the community, through the lectio (explanation of the Word), collatio (sharing the Word of God together) and probatio (verifying our own life in the light of the Word). It is with this spirit, and inspired by this central message, that the Fraternity of Jesus carries out its missionary and ecumenical work, promoting an ecumenism of ‘living the Word’ – whether though prayer, a sincere fraternal life or sharing this life with those who we meet.. |
